Information for New Patients

What is a Chiropodist?

Chiropodists are primary care practitioners and as such patients do not need to be referred by a physician.

Be aware that your supplemental health insurer may require you to be referred or may require a prescription for some goods or service to be reimbursed.

Appointments can only be made by contacting the clinic you would like to attend.  Emails requesting an appointment may not be answered.

Please arrive without nail polish and bring your regular footwear. (flip flops or winter boots will give us little insight as to the nature of your problem)

My staff and I look forward to meeting you and helping you return to good foot health.

What to Bring To Your First Chiropody Appointment

All initial consultations require a comprehensive assessment including circulation, nervous system, dermatology (skin and nails), musculo-skeletal, health history (not just feet), lifestyle and footwear.

Being well prepared for your appointment will ensure that I have all the needed information to make a complete assessment and can also develop a treatment plan on the first visit. Here’s what you need for your visit.

  • Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) Card
  • Driver’s license (or other photo ID)
  • List of all medications
  • Information about ongoing medical conditions like diabetes, joint replacements, allergies, etc.
  • Any referral information form your doctor or health care provider you have seen for your problem (if applicable)
  • Insurance card – know the details of your extended health coverage
  • Copies of X-rays, MRI’s or CT scans related to your current condition (if applicable)
  • Copies of medical records (if available) related to your current condition
  • Footwear that you wear the most or that cause problems
  • Any over the counter or custom orthotics you already have
  • Bring a small assortment of regular footwear and any insoles that you already have

Please remember to bring a list of all of your questions or concerns. Sometimes it’s easy to forget questions or concerns when you’re at the clinic. We want to ensure that you have all of your questions answered and there is no such thing as a bad or embarrassing question.

Making Appointments

Appointments can ONLY be made by phone. Please click here to find the Ottawa Foot Clinic nearest you and please phone the office you would like to attend for an appointment.

Fees for Chiropody Services

My goal is to provide my patients with the highest quality care, using the latest techniques, materials and equipment; while maintaining reasonable fees. In that effort, I require payment at the time of service and I accept cash, VISA, MasterCard and Interac debit.

Insurance Coverage for Chiropody Appointments

In Ontario, health insurance companies do not have standardized programs for podiatry/chiropody services. Patients should be familiar with their health benefits before they agree to our services. I do not bill your insurance provider directly, but will assist you with forms your provider needs in order to complete your claims.
